Forty years ago, miners across the United Kingdom went on strike, escalating into a fierce struggle between the working class and the state as neoliberalism made its entry. This confrontation marked a pivotal moment in British history and left deep wounds, as well as profound lessons about collective action and resistance. In this session we will explore what factors led to the strike and discuss what lessons we can learn from the miners' strikes of the time. These lessons could serve us well in our fight against neoliberal policies. The witch is dead, but her neoliberal legacy still leaves its mark.
This meeting will take place in English, translation to Dutch is possible upon request.
